As the “heart” of nuclear power plant, the third main pump of Karachi 3 has been accepted for delivery on March 30. So far, the six main pumps for two overseas HPR1000 units have been successfully designed and manufactured at home. This achievement marks a leap forward in China’s capacity to design and manufacture nuclear power equipment independently.
In November 2019, three of the main pumps have made their debut in the cold test of K-2 unit. The timely delivery of this last main pump keeps the project on schedule and creates favorable conditions for the subsequent hot functional test. It’s worth mentioning that the performance of the Chinese-made pump was highly recognized by Pakistani engineers after they witnessed the full flow test.
Overseas HPR1000 units are crucial to introducing China’s nuclear power to the world and advocating the Belt and Road Initiative. Through exporting its independent and advanced nuclear power technologies, China also promotes its equipment, materials, technical services and standards to the international market.
